About Lauren

I am Lauren and I bring a strong mathematical foundation into my Physics teaching after graduating from the University of Texas at Austin! I have 9 years of experience supporting students with Physics concepts that require both scientific understanding and careful quantitative reasoning! My studies introduced me to mechanics, electricity, waves, thermodynamics, and mathematical modeling, while independent academic projects allowed me to explore how equations can describe real physical behavior! I have particularly enjoyed mentoring students who were comfortable with calculations but struggled to understand what those calculations represented physically! My approach is to connect formulas with observable events such as moving vehicles, bouncing balls, musical instruments, household electricity, satellites, and changing temperatures! I have supported students with laboratory questions, science projects, homework, examination revision, and challenging numerical problems! I encourage students to draw diagrams, predict outcomes, identify known information, and explain their reasoning before calculating an answer! This process helps learners become more confident when they encounter unfamiliar Physics questions! I also enjoy introducing curious students to advanced ideas such as astrophysics and quantum concepts at an age-appropriate level, allowing them to explore beyond their regular curriculum without feeling overwhelmed!

I offer Physics lessons that transform abstract scientific principles into situations students can visualize, discuss, calculate, and investigate! My K-12 sessions cover everything from basic motion, forces, energy, gravity, sound, and light to more advanced High School subjects including electromagnetism, thermodynamics, waves, modern Physics, introductory Quantum Physics, and selected Astrophysics concepts! Junior School students can explore scientific ideas through simple observations involving motion, shadows, magnets, sound, and temperature, while Middle School learners can begin developing stronger scientific reasoning through experiments and guided investigations! High School students receive more rigorous instruction involving equations, graphs, laboratory interpretation, multi-step problems, and examination-style questions! I create personalized lesson sequences based on each learner's school curriculum and academic objectives, giving extra attention to topics that have previously caused difficulty! I use practical examples such as roller coasters for energy, car braking for forces, solar panels for electromagnetism, planetary motion for gravity, refrigerators for thermodynamics, and stars for astrophysics! I also help students understand laboratory procedures, analyze experimental results, prepare science presentations, and improve written explanations for assignments! Exam preparation includes concept revision, formula application, graphical questions, numerical exercises, and timed practice followed by detailed correction! Throughout the learning process, I monitor progress and adjust the difficulty so students experience genuine improvement without unnecessary pressure! My goal is to help learners see Physics as a way of explaining the world rather than simply another subject filled with equations!
