About Subi

Tutoring calculus has been a constant part of my life since 2008 when I became a tutor at McGill University while pursuing my studies in mechanical engineering. Over the past decade and a half, I have tutored much of college and university level mathematics, introductory physics (mechanics & electromagnetism), and general chemistry regularly*. Thanks to my continued tutoring experience, I can teach these subjects with ease and efficiency as well as assess the students’ comfort level and knowledge of the content to identify the kind of guidance that would benefit them urgently to get them going in their course. Furthermore, I can communicate the fundamentals of each course to new learners as well as offer insights and study tips tailored to each student. Together, this coherent approach results in a custom tutoring experience for the student, which also helps in sustaining focus and learning throughout the course, a must for most mathematics courses as they often have a cumulative nature and are prerequisites for other CEGEP and university courses.

*course numbers at McGill correspond to MATH 141, MATH 140, MATH 139; PHYS 101, PHYS 131, PHYS 102, PHYS 142 (PHYS 205 at Concordia), CHEM 110, CHEM 120; familiar with probability and statistics concepts as well as experience tutoring math courses within continuing studies (e.x. CMSC 000 Foundations of Mathematics at McGill)

** have prior experience teaching math for continuing education (lecturer and tutor)

Informal learning:
Finally, I also tutor math, science, and engineering concepts for fun to anyone interested in acquiring any skills or build their intuition in an informal setting. Whether you're passionate about a topic and/or would like to learn some core concepts surrounding it, feel free to reach out and I can tailor the lessons based on your interests. Open to anyone returning to any subject after a long time or starting out for the first time.

- Prioritize each session based on the immediate requirements (e.x. deadlines, exams, etc).

- Focus on the pertinent information for beginners, expand on the details systematically with each session without overwhelming the student.

- Illustrate how all the topics form a coherent picture within each course which helps students tackle final exam questions.

- Inspire students to brainstorm and think through the problems independently.

- Cultivated the above methodology and techniques during my 15+ years of tutoring and academic experience.

- Primary experience teaching university students in mathematics (calculus-all levels, linear algebra, differential equations*), physics, and mechanical engineering. Have also taught students in CEGEP, high school, and middle school.

*including the MATH 271 course at McGill

- (new, in progress) Started including some foundational points and study techniques here: (concealed information)
