About Marco

I am Departmental Lecturer in Philosophy at the University of Oxford and Stipendiary Lecturer at New College, Oxford. I have six years of experience teaching undergraduates here in Oxford. I have also extensive experience preparing students for A-levels and IB. My aim is to share the passion I have for philosophy with my students, and the fascination I have always felt for philosophical puzzles. In Oxford, I am also a supervisor for master students, and a mentor to students in New College.

-MPhil Philosophy, University of St Andrews.
-DPhil Philosophy Oxon.

About the lesson

I can tutor many topics, including: logic, metaphysics, philosophy of language, epistemology, ethics, early modern philosophy, ancient philosophy, ethics, and philosophy of mathematics, philosophy of AI. I can help students from A-levels to postgraduate level. My teaching method is to be patient and open to discussion. Adaptability is key: the way I teach is based on what the student needs. In the first lesson, we work together to come up with a solid plan to achieve your goal, tailored to your specific needs. After every session we discuss together the outcome and the best way to move forward. If a parent is involved, I always share the outcome of the session with them to keep them updated.

Whenever I had a question he 99% of the time could give me a satisfying and informative answer immediately, and the other 1% he had the right book to hand and could find me a passage explaining the answer to me in a minute. He allowed us to discuss our own ideas to help us get a better grasp of what each of our own opinions on philosophical questions were, but also explained the opinions of varying academics when we were struggling. He also gave interesting background information about topics to help us understand the area we were discussing. I thoroughly recommend Marco as a tutor.
