About Devon
Ultimately, my goal is to support your learning journey at whatever stage you might be in.
Teaching is my bread-and-butter -- and I have 5 years of experience doing it -- but I've also been an LGBT+ youth counselor, an advocate, and a disabled student liaison. I deeply understand that your environment and your learning go hand in hand.
And for that reason, I've mastered a number of assistive learning strategies for any kind of access needs you might have!
Is a reading too dense, and you're getting lost in all the words? Let's break it up in chunks.
Are you getting bored or sidetracked and just want to draw instead? Let's draw up a chart to help you organize your thoughts.
Is English your second language, and you're struggling with vocab? Let's trade definitions with your first language and English until it clicks a bit better.
There's always a way to make things easier for yourself, and getting better with reading and writing will make your whole life easier! It's just about figuring out what works for your mind, and I'm here to give you the tools you need to succeed on your own.

Hi! ~
My name is Dev (They/Them pronouns) and I'm an aspiring teacher/ current grad student as SF State.
As someone who's loved reading since I was a little kid, I know what it feels like to dread reading and writing in a school setting. The pacing of school and having to constantly churn out assignments you don't care about is *exhausting*, and anyone who's shared in that experience -- you are not alone!!!
It's hard to feel like someone understands your difficulties, but I can promise that I'll always try to be as patient and accommodating as your tutor.
Whether you have an assignment due tomorrow that you need emergency help on, or you need someone to help you work out what that short story means, I'm happy to help! I've got 3+ years of tutoring experience under my belt, and I've worked with kids of many different backgrounds and needs. No need is too big, in my book!
