About Mike
As a Connecticut certified classroom teacher of over 25 years, I have helped to inspire countless students to achieve their best results by tapping into their unique qualities every day. I have recently published my own illustrated kids' book - which creatively took about 4 years to bring to completion! I like to share the struggles I had as a young student to overcome my own reading and math issues so as to help kids understand how to increase their skills one determined day at a time. As an elementary school classroom teacher, I have worked extensively with students in grades K - 6. I incorporate many kinesthetically fun moments into my lessons. This led to me becoming a published author of a math-themed illustrated book titled Queen Quotient. I am able to help students excel with their creative writing skills, along with the details of grammar, spelling, and punctuation. I also have extensive instructional knowledge in the many math concepts students are working on during current standardized testing moments. As a teacher, I have always tried to get to know a student's strengths and interests first. I have often referred to Howard Gardner's Multiple Intelligences work to help kids understand where their strengths and interests are strongest. Details
As a Connecticut certified teacher, I am aware of the many concepts and requirements that public schools are looking for a student to master or to just be introduced. As a teacher of over 25 years in the public domain, I have experience with a multitude of methods and strategies that work well for so many kids. My rate is fairly set at $50 an hour for these reasons.
