About Daniel

I am a versatile career educator with a masters in education from the University of the Pacific with more than ten years experience teaching in preschool and elementary settings. Having worked with a great variety of students ages 2 - 17 and in a great variety of settings and roles, I am quick to adapt to the individual needs my students. I have worked in both low income and privileged communities, with English language learners, students with special needs, and advanced learners. Providing equitable education to all students has always been central to my approach as an educator and I am eager to help with any and all challenges, from socio-emotional growth, to behavior management, to more straight forward academics. I have extensive experience teaching and tutoring reading, writing, academic English, elementary math, English literature, history, and art history. In addition to my academic offerings, I am committed to supporting students holistically. As a musician and artist, I love helping students tap their own creativity.

About the lesson

My greatest strength is my adaptability. Through my professional experience I have come to understand what the great American Writer Ralph Waldo Emerson meant when he posited that "a foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds." The best educators are ready, willing, and able to assess students' skills, knowledge, and emotional readiness on a minute by minute basis, and to adjust plans accordingly. I pride myself on my ability to make such assessments and adjustments, my patience and understanding, and my communicative clarity. I know that students make the most progress when they trust me and they know how much I care about them. With this solid foundation, invaluable academic progress is possible. As each student has their own strengths, I cater to individual learning styles, preferences, and needs.

Details

$.55/mile for travel expenses.
I ask for $25/hr for one student and $15/hr for each additional student. I am happy to work on a sliding pay scale to reach more students. Please let me know if you have any questions.
