About Amy
Hi, I'm Amy! I'm an English Film major student with a passion for helping others find their voice in the classroom. Growing up speaking Mandarin at home, English was a real challenge for me; so I know firsthand what it feels like to struggle with the language. That experience makes me a more patient and empathetic tutor. I keep sessions relaxed and judgment-free, because the best learning happens when you're not afraid to ask questions. As a native Mandarin speaker, I know firsthand what it feels like to struggle with a subject in a language that isn't your first and that experience shapes how I teach. I'm patient, clear, and always ready to find a different way to explain something until it clicks.
My approach is collaborative and low-pressure. I'd rather work through a problem together than talk at you. I adapt to each student's pace and learning style, making concepts genuinely understandable rather than just memorizable.
Best suited for: Elementary through high school students in science, math, or general academic support; especially those who are English language learners or just need someone who gets what it's like to feel lost in the classroom.
