About Shifa
I am a school psychologist with a B.A. degree in Psychology and PG Diploma in School Psychology. Over 4 years of my study I have developed a keen interest in the science of language acquisition in children and wish to apply the same through my course. I’ve spent a year tutoring English to children. I’ve also participated in a research study pertaining to language needs of children which has led the foundation of my course.

Language learning doesn’t need to be based on bookish learning. Instead it needs to be fun! Only while learning language do children get the freedom to choose topics of their interest. They can talk and write about their pets, their favourite picnic spot or their favourite food and still learn language without imposing topic specific restrictions. The main objective of this course is to provide a space for children to choose which inculcates a love for learning and interest in the subject.
This course is divided into 5 modules and takes into consideration the steps of language learning starting from vocabulary, communication, reading and then advancing towards grammar and writing.
We start off with ‘where do words come from’ and how to use a dictionary and advance towards pronunciation and reading comprehension.
Once the students gain a certain level of mastery over reading, we proceed towards grammar and writing. Both basic and advanced levels of grammar will be covered. The writing module will also include writing emails and CVs, curating blogposts, etc. apart from academic topics.
The course is designed for 5th-8th grade students. It’ll include audio visual stimulation, movie lists, weekly assessments and homework, and monthly progress reports over a period of 5 months, thrice a week. Consequent doubt solving sessions will be conducted on a case to case basis.
The course is designed keeping in mind the intellectual needs of age appropriate language learning.

Certificate of completion will be provided at the end of the course.
