About Midori
I am an English tutor with 100+ hours of paid work experience, and many more unpaid. I have tutored high school students in regular, Honors, and AP coursework; college applications; and the SAT. My students have gone on to achieve graduate school acceptances and desired jobs, after working with me on their cover letters, resumes, and interview skills. Coming from an ESL background of my own, I am experienced in communicating with ESL adults and sensitive to their needs.

My teaching method is mainly conversational. I ascertain each student's individual needs as part of each lesson, never assuming I know better, because A) research has shown this is a stronger teaching method, and B) often, articulating the problem is 50% of the work in solving it. I am attentive to the student's speech, and take notes throughout the conversation to provide any corrections or suggestions, should the student ask for that. I always try to expand on the student's language, instead of enforcing my own rhetoric.

I am willing to travel by MUNI, BART, AC Transit, even CalTrain to meet with a student, but I will ask for full compensation on travel costs. No cancellation fee, just travel cost compensation if the cancellation is last minute.
