About Annabel
I'm a 2020 graduate of English Literature from St Andrews university, which has the top English department in the UK. I graduated with an MA and a place on the Deans' List for Academic Excellence. I've successfully tutored three students, in English Literature and Language, at both GCSE and A-Level. I'm also an avid reader so I'm well-read in most classic texts which are typically taught on GCSE, A-Level and uni syllabi.

I prioritise essay structure, and a passion for reading, analysing and studying texts. So firstly I practise comprehension-style extraction of information from short texts and poems, and help students to understand how they should structure their findings and analyses in a clear written essay. Once students are comfortable with structuring a successful essay, I start on the texts students are studying on their course - this is the fun part! I like to teach in a way which excites students about what can be found in texts, how the texts relate to their respective historical contexts, interesting theories about meaning and allegory, etc. I think the best results come from students who are genuinely excited and interested in what they're studying.
