About Lily

I really enjoy teaching as I am passionate about literature and language myself. As an English Literature and Language student at university, I have become skilful at analysing all forms of media, ranging from TV and movies, comic books to modern literature and classics. I am determined to use my knowledge to help those who are only starting off in the field of English Literature.

About the lesson

I enjoy clearly talking each subject through with my students, and guaranteeing that they understand each topic. I take time to get to know my students' strengths and weaknesses when it comes to English Literature and Language, and if they don't enjoy the subject, I help by introducing subjects in a way that is beneficial to them. For example, in an English language, I help them by analysing dialogue from their favourite movies and TV shows. This will help them find literature and language more accessible by using literary analysis on films they are already accustomed to. When it comes to essay-writing, I am always keen to read through their work and give specific reasons and examples as to how it can be improved. I never give vague statements and criticism without detailing what they can specifically do to improve their work.

Before I was struggling a lot with my A Level subjects because in sixth form it has been a bit too vague to grasp, but Lily has really been accommodating and went through the topics which I felt the least confident in. Would definitely recommend to others, thank you for all the help!!

I am more than happy to offer an introductory class for one hour for free, where we can go through the student's needs and discuss whether we think I am an appropriate tutor for this! As I am currently on my year abroad in Germany, I am only offering online classes and I believe these are just as - if not more - effective than in-person classes. However, I may offer in-person classes as well when I am back in England in the summer and am happy to travel to accommodate :)
