About Lana
Hi there, it's so nice to (eventually) meet you! I'm sure you'd love to know a little bit more about me. My name is Lana, I am a Pre-Med student at North Carolina State University. However, I have always held a deep passion for all things literary! A life-long reader, writer, and analyst, I am well-versed in the world of fantasy, classics, science fiction, and historical fiction. I started out as an English major, excelled in honors and AP English classes, and attended the North Carolina Governor's School program for English, specifically creative writing. I achieved a 35 on the Reading section of the ACT, and a 32 on English section, while maintaining a 30 overall. I am working on a novel, have written plenty of poetry, and read even more books!

I like to keep my teaching techniques very personalized, they depend mostly on the type of student you are! Whether you are an auditory, visual, or hands-on learner, I can adapt to all, and teaching methods will depend highly on this! I can help high school students with ACT prep, along with helping you to improve your ability to detect, analyze, and explain the reasoning behind an author's use of metaphors, the hidden meanings within texts, and make sense of some classical literature. I can also help both middle school and high school students with improving their grammar and basic literacy skills! I am able to work across the US, but I am based in Raleigh, NC, and would be willing to explore the idea of in-person tutoring, so long as it is in the Raleigh area!

Details
Online rates are cheaper, due to no traveling necessary! I do have a traveling fee, due to the fact that I do not have a car, and therefore would need to take either the bus or a ride service. In-person rates are a couple dollars more expensive, due to the fact that I would need to travel, but also would require more blocked-out time.
