About Scott
I graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor's degree in Sociology. Since then, I have worked as a tutor for 4 years and a lead teacher for 3. I have spent the majority of my time with middle school students, but I have experience working with high school and college-level students as well. I am a published creative writing author and spend my spare time reading and freelance writing.

I offer an open, honest approach to teaching. I like to build relationships with students by sharing stories and learning about them first. From there, I can get a better feel for how the student likes to learn. I am a creative problem solver, and I love to bring that into teaching. Helping students overcome their struggles in the classroom in fun, creative ways helps me stay energized and engaged. I'm sure the students don't mind either.

Scottie has had very close relationships with students he’s worked with since serving with me for City Year Detroit. He is not just good building relationships with them, be also set high expectations for them to improve their reading skills which makes the students have trust in what he does.
