About Frank

My passion for teaching is bound to my curiosity about language, literature, and other cultures. I love getting to know people from places I've never been, and always strive to make my teaching personal to each of my students as I get to know them.

My teaching experience began with my Level 5 CELTA training in late 2024, where I had the opportunity to teach regular classes throughout the course.

After this I travelled for a teaching opportunity in Colombia (before which I worked online as a tutor teaching adults in the capital). My role was at a school in a rural part of the country, where I lived for six months. I worked among the other teachers there on the daily classes and running of the school. I taught ages ranging from 10-21, and also tutored one-to-one outside the school and in the wider community.

I later spent seven months in Ecuador where I worked as a private tutor in the capital city. I worked with both adults and children there.

I am a receptive teacher and see myself as a good listener. I value building a personal relationship with my students and will always be listening to your individual needs, aims and aspirations.

About the lesson

I have a dynamic approach to my teaching and enjoy trying new things with my students before settling on a tailored (and tweakable) system that works per individual.

I like learning and researching about new ways to teach and am always trying to create lessons that allow for a maximum element of freedom and experimentation on the part of my students. I share my resources with my students and like to get as much input and feedback as possible in planning my lessons.

I have a BA (1:1) in English Literature and a Level 5 CELTA (Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) provided by Cambridge Assessment English.

I have worked as a school teacher (ages 10-21) in rural Colombia, and as a private tutor (adults and children, online and in-person) in Ecuador.

I have experience teaching English as a second/foreign language to both children and adults, at CEFR levels A2-C1.

I am also looking for students who want help writing essays (up to undergraduate level) or are looking for a tutor in GCSE/A Level humanities subjects. I am an experienced essay-writer and was awarded First Class Honours in my undergraduate degree.

I usually teach in hour-long slots but am more than happy to teach thirty minute classes, or up to an hour and a half.
