• 1) When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

  It started when I started tutoring during my Masters Degree in International Commercial Law. Learners always gave me good feedback and they appreciated the effort I put in to my classes.

• 2) Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

  I like teaching learners who are focusing on one area of law or are taking law on for the first time. I can tailor my material to suit the learner.

• 3) Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

  The Head of the Law Faculty when I was doing my degree taught me Criminal Law, Jurisprudence and Evidence Law. He was incredible and made you feel like if you did a bad exam you were doing wrong by him because he was so good of a lecturer which gave you extra motivation to do well. I hope that I can be as good as a lecturer as he was.

• 4) What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

  The first is to listen to the learner to see where they are in terms of their learning and where they wish to go. Then tailor your lesson plans to each learner at a pace that they can work with. A tutor must speak clearly and worker with the learner throughout.

• 5) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

  There are a number of lecturers who inspired me to do well in their subjects. A great lecturer can inspire as well as communicate knowledge to those who listen.

• 6) What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

  Law is a technical subject. My job is to make it as accessible as possible for all learners.

• 7) Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

  I love taking technical subjects and coming up with examples that relate to the learners.
