About Louis

Hello! I've worked for around 450 clients since 2011 - predominantly agency work, but I've also had a number of word-of-mouth clients to whom I've been recommended. I've helped students get into Eton, Westminster (where I attended as a Queen's Scholar), Harrow, Sevenoaks, Winchester, Wellington and many other private schools - both via Common Entrance and Scholarship exams - and I've helped children from both state and private education attain 7s, 8s and 9s at GCSE where previously they were predicted 5s and 6s. I've been on numerous overseas assignments - holiday work in Italy or France, winter's break in Russia etc - and I've taught afternoon classes at various preparatory schools. I have a record of client loyalty - there's one family I've been with for all nine years - and I have accrued an enormous bank of teaching materials and past papers in all 11+ and 13+ (and also younger) subjects. My style is friendly and somewhat informal but I am always fiercely determined that my students exceed expectations! I also enjoy seeing them flourish as well-rounded, interesting people. My schedule used to take me all around London, but recent years have seen a shift in emphasis towards online tuition, which often seems to suit children just as well or even better; I'd still be willing to teach in person if a client lives close by! I also devise and run courses with GIFT, an organisation for gifted and talented children whose operations usually take place in residential study centres. I believe that while often there's nothing better than looking at past papers, creative approaches to education are often very fruitful, and I have no problem devising unusual or demanding tasks to push a child in the right direction. I live in Camberwell and can often be found birdwatching, playing sports or writing. Perfect! The best tutor
We feel very lucky to have Louis as the tutor who helped our son to prepare his 11+/13+ entries. Louis is for sure an expert in the preparation of 11+ and 13+. He has not only found the proper materials that fit my son’s level but also provided interesting and creative tutoring beyond just exam preparation. He made the journey towards the entry exams intriguing. He’s now more like a big friend to my son and definitely a friend to our family.

I've just re-read Louis’s self-introduction on this site. I found it very modest after frequently interacting with him for the past 9 months. Louis has a very amiable personality, he is kind and sincere, responsive and thoughtful. I have no hesitation to fully recommend him to anyone who is looking for a tutor.

Subject : 11+ School Exam Preparation
Outcome : With Louis's help, my son has done well in all of his entry exams. He has received offers from all the schools he has applied including Westminster Under School and St. Paul’s Junior.

Perfect! Exceptionally Passionate Tutor
Louis is currently tutoring our son for the 11+ exams. He is an exceptional tutor with a very strong command of the English Language. He is a great communicator and very engaging and our son looks up to him coming every week. Louis just knows how to work it to bring the best out of our son and constantly challenges him to go above and beyond. When you find a tutor like this, you sure don’t want to let him go. We see Louis as part of our family now.

Perfect! 10+ preparation
Louis had been working with our daughter in preparation for her 10+ entry exam. His approach has really suited her and within a few months she’s feeling far more relaxed and confident across all subjects. Louis has consistently given us feedback on her progress and we’ve seen a positive difference in her approach to and achievements in, the homework that he sets each week.
Subject : 11+ School Exam Preparation
Outcome : I would recommend him as a tutor

Louis has been working with my two sons for the last 3 years, initially to help my older son with 13+ pre-test and entrance exams for Westminster, St Pauls & Eton, and subsequently to prepare him for scholarship exams.

As an ex-Westminster Queen's Scholar himself, Louis knows what the top schools are looking for, and he has in-depth knowledge across all subjects.

Therefore he was able to guide my son in a number of aspects - in problem solving approaches for Maths and Science, in structuring essays in English and humanities, and in improving his fundamentals in French and Latin.
This resulted in my son securing offers from Westminster, St Paul's and Eton.

Recently Louis has also been helping my younger son with his school entrance exams, also with great results.

Louis is passionate about his work and always makes the lessons interesting and varied. He is an intuitive tutor who knows how to get the best out of each child. He has a good sense of humour and our boys see him more as a friend than a tutor.

Over and above his professional attributes, Louis is also organised and punctual, he's genial and a good conversationalist!

If you are looking for a tutor to help your child with entrance process to the top schools, I would wholeheartedly recommend Louis.

Louis is approachable, pleasant, organised and flexible. Most importantly he has a great deal of experience in getting children through entrance exams in a no stress way. He knows exactly what is required and how to get there. Our daughter had a very short time (only 3 months) to prepare for exams in another language to the one she was schooled in (we live in Brussels) and Louis found time for lessons as needed to get her through the syllabus. We are now using him for our second daughter and have recommended him to a friend.

Louis has been tutoring both my children in all subjects for exams from 11+ through to GCSE - including 13+ and common entrance. My son managed to get into 9 wonderful schools, and my daughter also achieved all her best choices.
Louis is wonderfully versatile, reliable and engaging. My son had health difficulties during his GCSEs, but with Louis' help and support, these difficulties did not hinder him at all and he excelled in his exams. He is now continuing with his A-levels, achieving top grades in the school already thanks to Louis' tutoring.
Louis is always happy to help, even when I am unable to give him advance notice - he couldn't be more accommodating. I feel incredibly lucky and grateful to have found Louis all those years ago, he has been so valuable to our family.
