About Lianne
I'm Lianne I started tutoring because I've always been passionate about teaching and became even more so as my own child entered education and I saw the gaps that people fell into. The one size fits all approach doesn't work- I enjoy creating a space and an approach that works for each individual and fostering an environment where confidence is built and mistakes aren't feared. It doesn't matter if you get something wrong with me because I'm not someone you have to face every day at school or worry about your social standing with - you can and should offer me wrong answers and we can figure out where to go from there, because chances are those answers aren't actually that far off being right.

I've been tutoring full time for the last 4 years and have always worked to make sure every pupil has lessons that are catered to their individual needs; for some this means taking a scientific approach to study, and for others it means zooming out and looking at the less tangible aspects of the subjects. At the start of each month I allow some time to devise a rough plan of lessons for that month with the student. We work as a team to figure stuff out and if we need to change tact or we need to circle back to something, that's all good. My sessions are a space to try, to gain confidence, to get things wrong and, most importantly, to learn and laugh.
