About Christopher

I am a qualified English teacher with experience teaching GCSE, A-Level and Further Education students, as well as supporting learners with a wide range of educational needs. Alongside my classroom teaching, I am completing a PhD in English Literature, with research focused on contemporary fiction and literary theory.

I have presented my research at university conferences and academic events, giving talks on literature and critical theory, and I enjoy helping students engage with texts in a thoughtful and accessible way. Whether you're aiming to improve your grades, develop your essay writing or deepen your understanding of literature, I provide supportive, personalised tuition that builds both confidence and academic skills.

About the lesson

I offer personalised online tuition in English Language, English Literature, Reading, Writing, and Classics for GCSE, A-Level and university students. As an experienced English teacher with experience in secondary, Further Education and specialist SEND settings, I know to adapt every lesson to suit the individual learner's needs and goals.

My approach focuses on developing understanding and critical thinking rather than simple memorisation. Together, we'll explore texts, strengthen analytical and writing skills, and build the confidence needed to succeed in exams, coursework or academic study. Lessons are designed to be engaging, supportive and challenging students at the right level.

Whether you're preparing for GCSEs, A-Levels, university assignments or simply want to improve your reading and writing skills, I provide structured, encouraging tuition that helps students make lasting progress.

Perfect! Christopher has been tutoring my son in primary maths and I cannot recommend him highly enough. He is warm and friendly and has a real gift for relating to children.

My son is very shy and does not like any kind of school work, yet he sits down and works willingly with Christopher every single session.

He stretches my son with something a little more difficult at just the right moment and he always makes sure the step before has been learned thoroughly before adding a more complex one. Nothing is rushed and nothing is left half understood.

The result is a boy who is growing in confidence as well as in maths. I would recommend Christopher without hesitation, particularly to any parent of a shy or reluctant learner.
