About Alicen

I have 10 years' teaching, tutoring and exam marking experience. I specialise in English literature and language, working across a range of educational settings, including mixed ability classrooms, private tutoring, special needs and gifted and talented focus groups.

As an experienced AQA English Language and Literature Examiner, I know what examiners are looking for and can show students how to access the highest grades.

I am a trainee counsellor and understand how to work with students who may be going through a difficult time.

Skills:

Ability to clearly communicate requirements of GCSE exam papers.

Track record of consistently outstanding GCSE English results

Knowledge of requirements of how to achieve level 8 and 9

Experience catching up students with large gaps in education

Experience in working with learners with special needs and motivating them to secure outstanding results.

About the lesson

I work with different learning styles and contextualise exam content so that texts resonate personally with students. With a clear learning outcome related to the exam texts, my lessons break down specific skills and give students the space and confidence to implement new skills.
