About Julia

I have spent the last eight years as Head of Philosophy and Religious Studies in one of the best international schools in the world. Prior to that, I taught in an outstanding comprehensive school in London for five years. I have taught both Philosophy and Religious Studies to A Level in every year of my teaching, and I have taught students of all abilities in big classes, small groups and one-to-one.

My students would all agree that my expectations are high, that I know my stuff, my explanations are clear and that I am well-organised. Above all, I care a lot about each and every one of them both personally and academically. This means that interesting lessons are crucial to my practice, and I never move on to the next topic until I am confident that every student is ready to do so.

I believe that Philosophy and Religious Studies are vital in today's world. They provide critical skills for life, as well as establishing the foundations for young people to become true global citizens. They are demanding subjects, fascinating, ever-changing, vast and complex.

My favourite part of teaching is when a student has a breakthrough in their understanding and finally 'gets' an idea. I strive to ensure that each and every student that is taught by me gets the best grade they possibly can whilst retaining a love for the subject.
