About Melanie

I come from a very personalized approach making sure my students feel transformed after each session. I'm well versed and teach a variety of dance styles such as Salsa, Flamenco, Hip hop, Movement Therapy, Ecstatic Dance, and Dance Cardio to name a few. My favorite part is seeing my students find a deeper connection to movement and develop more confidence and joy.

I'm a dancer, performer, and instructor that has worked in TV, Film, commercials, and performed on stages across North America for over a decade. I've worked with celebrities like Jennifer Lopez who is an absolute bad-ass and inspiration. My true love and passion is working with beginners who have little to no dance experience and taking them from not knowing much, to developing a new relationship to their bodies, to dance and movement, and strengthening their inner confidence. Seeing the joy dance brings to my students only amplifies the joy it brings to my own life.

I started teaching at age 17 and have worked for dance across Canada and the US.

I have a BFA degree in dance and have been working in the entertainment industry for over 10 years working in TV, Film, and performing on stages in North America and Europe. I've worked with artist like Jennifer Lopez, Pitbull, Neyo, and Pharrell Williams to name a few, and have been featured in over a dozen commercials and choreographed for Sony, Budwiser, TedX, and Blue Shield of California.

About the lesson

In the introductory phase, I like to get a good understanding of what my student's goals are to create a customized program to fit their needs.

I work with students of all ages and abilities and I believe in making dance accessible for everyone!

I've worked with working professionals to children and adults with disabilities, to children and teens in foster care, and adults in recovery centers.

Ask questions and be sure to have an idea of what you're looking to accomplish and discover in your sessions.

My favorite thing is witnessing my students find their inner joy through dance and develop a deeper and more trusting relationship with their bodies to allow themselves to be fully expressed.
