I like to get to know the student and understand how they like to learn. When doing this I can better approach them and make them feel comfortable to ask the questions they are not asking in the classroom.
I've worked with grade school students and high school students.
Make sure that your tutor is friendly and approachable. Usually a younger tutor is willing to be more flexible with the student because they have more time.
