About Susan

I am an Educational Therapist with over 15 years of experience working with children, teens, and adults. I specialize in working with clients who are struggling with ADHD, reading(Dyslexia), math(Dyscalculia),writing(Dysgraphia) as well as ESL. I have my B.A, in Child Psychology and my Masters in "The Psychology of Learning". I've worked in DISD as an Educational Diagnostician and have referrals from GVCVISD, KISD, and CISD. I am passionate about guiding clients to find their special way of learning so they may succeed.

My curiosity and motivation began when my middle child was struggling with ADHD. I lived firsthand with this experience so I understand the parent's perspective as well has their frustrations in helping their child.

I have worked with students for over 20 years evaluating (testing) and then tutoring. I feel very fortunate that I have been gifted with the ability to quickly connect with my students and intuitively know what that child needs to open their individual learning style. My colleagues call me “The Child Whisperer “. I’m passionate about what I do and enjoy watching a child who has been embarrassed and humiliated at school turn into a confident student who knows they can master anything!

About the lesson

I'm a retired Educational Diagnostician. I specialize in working with students who are challenged with ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, or performing below their grade level. We start at the beginning and relearn differently with fresh new approaches to understanding each new challenging idea and old ones too. I have a BA in Psychology from George Washington University and a MA in "The Psychology of Learning" from Catholic University of America. In addition, I have a certification in Davis Dyslexia Training. I've also completed and been certified as a Certified Professional Coach. My most important experience has been hands-on learning working with students in my private practice for well over 15 years .

A diversity of students ranging from Pre-K through 8th grade. All of my students are either lagging behind grade level or want to achieve above their grade level.

I also work with adults who want to improve their English (ESL) language skills as well as their writing ability.
