About Jose
Teaching and Writing have gone hand in hand in my life: creative writing, critical writing, editing and proofreading, MUN Debate, student publications and many more endeavors and personal projects have gotten me to this point.
I have taught reading and writing for over six years, beginning at Columbus Metropolitan Library in 2014.
I am TEFL Certified (150 Hours), have completed Harvard Visual Thinking Workshops, and Diocese of Toledo Child Abuse Awareness Certified.
I got started teaching through the Ohio State University, my alma mater. I often tutored my peers in writing for different courses, and having spoken to a career counselor I decided to travel to South Korea for my first teaching job.
Teaching since then has been a wonderful journey
I have taught Environmental Science, Philosophy, Religion, English, Spanish, Critical Reading and Writing, and a plethora of other subjects in the United States, South Korea, Japan, and China. I am an adaptable teacher and know what it takes to achieve a student's goals.
Having travelled so much has also exposed me and my ideas to many challenges, so adopting a patient and steady approach towards learning has shown its worth throughout my career.

Working with new students is always a delight; I have to learn what works for each student as well as how to reach their specific learning needs.
I've worked with many different types of students of all age ranges: Special Needs high schoolers, middle and elementary students in Japan, pre-Kindergarten to collegiates in South Korea, International School and Bilingual Students in China, and private school students in the United States.
