About Caroline

A little about me..

I love being able to help students achieve what they once thought was impossible! Every child is capable of success and I am here to help them through it all.

I have both a Bachelors Degree as well as a Masters Degree. I have my Bachelors in Childhood Education with a concentration in Psychology, and a minor in International Studies. I completed my Masters in Teaching Students with Disabilities. In combination with both of my degrees, I also have New York State certification in both my fields of study.

I am currently a Fourth Grade Teacher at St. Thomas Aquinas Distance Learning Program! (So I am very familiar with online learning)

Now onto life in the classroom!

In Math, I take what is taught in the classroom, and create real life scenarios that help students understand the concepts more deeply. These scenarios include aspects of daily life that my students enjoy, and will be able to remember when working in their class!

When it comes to English Language Arts, we go through the elements of grammar, reading and writing with ease. ELA is one of the most important subjects in school because what is learned can be implemented throughout all other classes as well! When students are able to realize that ELA is more than just English, and that it is also Social Studies and Science, they are more willing to learn and break apart different parts of grammar and correct what they are misunderstanding.

My passion is now, and always has been, watching students achieve their fullest potential. When I was younger, those who believed in me, and helped me along the way are the reason I am now an educator.

I love being able to be with a student from the beginning and watch them grow into something they never thought possible. Every learner has it within themselves to achieve greatness, sometimes they just need a little help believing in themselves!

About the lesson

First, I will ask my students what they are currently learning in class. From there, I will go through old homework assignments with them, as well as old tests and quizzes. Once I have completed this, I will have a better understanding of where my student has a misunderstanding in the material.

Then, I will ask the students for any notes taken, or given out, during class time. From there, I will review the notes and the process executed to solve the problem and see if there is an alternative way to get the same answer. Most of the time, it is not that students cannot find the answer with the information given, but with the execution.

Making sure my students have options to choose from when working on solving for an answer is very important!
