About Rachel
As a professed grammarian who has been occasionally spotted wistfully spending an afternoon debating the Oxford comma, writing, reading, and nearly all other things involving the study and appreciation of the English language are right up my alley.
I have been a writer and editor for over 15 years, and during that time, I also tutored non-native English speakers overseas in areas that ranged from basic literacy skills to full writing projects. I also homeschooled my own four children for a number of years.
I received a Bachelors in English and am a lifetime member of Sigma Tau Delta (international honor society for English majors). I have edited multiple books, and as a screenwriter, my feature scripts have garnered success in multiple screenwriting competitions, such as Top-10 Finalist (Big Break Contest), Top 10% (Academy Nicholl Fellowhip), Top-50 Considered (I.S.A. Fellowship), and have scored 8/10 ratings on The Black List.

I began tutoring while still in university, where I worked as an English department peer tutor and editor.
With a Bachelors in English, I also have years of work experience tutoring non-native English speakers, substitute teaching, and homeschooling my children.

The typical process I begin with when working with a new student is to have an initial 15-30 minute session to gauge their needs and understand their abilities. From there, they will discuss how they want to proceed in their studies, and I will build a plan from that.
Aside from homeschooling my own children, I have taught students ranging in age from 4 to 18 and from native English speakers to non-native speakers.

Perfect! Ms. Rachel and Cecilia have worked together for over a year. The way she breaks down the process of writing for my daughter has been super helpful.

Rachel has the kind of wonderful and endearing personality that makes kids adore her and look up to her. She's also an extremely talented musician and piano teacher who instills a love of music in her students. I highly recommend her!
My daughter started lessons with Rachel and she loves it! Rachel is so kind and patient with her, my daughter can’t wait for her lessons each week.
I dont normally write reviews, but in this case I thought it would help people decide on a great piano teacher. I have a daughter that is slow to pick up new things and she had lessons with another teacher for several months. The other teacher did not teach good technique and seemed to treat her differently like she couldnt learn. The last straw was when I realized my daughter couldnt even read notes.
I switched teachers to Rachel and she was amazing even though it took a few weeks to correct the bad habits the other teacher taught her. My daughter is more confident now and actualy wants to go to every lesson. She's making progress and will have her first recital this year. Thanks Rachel for taking the time ( and patience) with our daughter!Rachels professional attitude and love for piano is evident in every lesson! She has created a love for piano with my son. Now he loves to play for our family when we visit, and they are all so impressed. He has advanced so well in such a short amount of time. Thank you, Rachel!
I’m so glad we found Rachel. She makes learning the piano enjoyable for my son while at the same time paying close attention to detail and correct technique. My son loves to practice and plays for us all the time. I highly recommend her
