  • 1) When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

My interest in tutoring began during my degree in Computer Science, sparked by a deep curiosity and passion for Mathematics. As I delved deeper into the subject, I found immense satisfaction in mastering its complexities. This passion naturally evolved into a desire to share my knowledge with others. I began tutoring informally, helping friends and classmates, and quickly realized the joy of seeing someone else grasp a concept that was once difficult for them. This realization cemented my interest in private tutoring, where I could make a direct impact on students' learning journeys.
  • 2) Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

I teach Mathematics, which covers a wide range of topics such as Calculus, Algebra, Trigonometry, and Geometry. I particularly enjoy discussing Trigonometry and Geometry because they allow students to see the practical applications of what they are learning, making the subject come alive. These topics often lead to engaging discussions where students can explore their ideas and develop critical thinking skills. On the other hand, topics like Calculus and Algebra can be a bit challenging, not because they are hard to learn, but because they require a strong foundational understanding, which can sometimes be daunting for students. However, I strive to make these topics as engaging as possible by breaking them down into manageable parts and connecting them to real-life examples.
  • 3) Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

Yes, I was fortunate to have several role models during my educational journey. One of them was Haris Sir, who taught Mathematics. He had an incredible way of making complex ideas simple and accessible. More than just teaching the subject, he taught me the importance of patience, persistence, and the value of a strong work ethic. His passion for teaching and his genuine care for students' success left a lasting impression on me. I aim to bring the same level of dedication and inspiration to my own tutoring sessions.
  • 4) What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

To be a good tutor, several qualities are essential. First and foremost, patience is key. Every student learns at their own pace, and a good tutor must be willing to explain concepts multiple times in different ways until the student understands. Secondly, adaptability is crucial; each student has unique learning styles and needs, so being able to tailor your approach to suit the individual is important. Communication skills are also vital, as clear and effective communication can bridge the gap between confusion and understanding. Finally, empathy is important; understanding the challenges and frustrations students face allows a tutor to provide the support and encouragement they need to
  • 5) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

I remember a particular moment during my school days when the teacher taught shapes. Our teacher, instead of just going through the motions of explaining it in the usual way, took us outside the classroom and used a real-world example to illustrate the concept. Suddenly, everything clicked. That experience taught me that learning isn't just about textbooks and lectures; it's about making connections between what we learn and the world around us. This approach is something I've carried into my own tutoring, always looking for ways to make the subject matter more relatable and engaging for my students.
  • 6) What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still face in your subject?

One of the main challenges I faced in my subject was balancing theory with practical application. It was frustrating at times, and I had to put in extra hours to fully grasp the material. However, this experience taught me resilience and the importance of a growth mindset. I realized that struggling with a concept didn't mean I was incapable of understanding it; it just meant I needed to approach it differently, whether that meant seeking help, using different resources, or simply giving it more time. This lesson is something I emphasize with my students, encouraging them to see challenges as opportunities for growth rather than obstacles.
  • 7) Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

My passion lies not only in teaching but also in Engineering. I find immense joy in solving complex problems, whether they are math, logic, or coding related. Teaching, for me, is a way to share this passion with others. There's something incredibly fulfilling about seeing a student light up when they finally understand a concept or when they develop their own passion for the subject.
  • 8) What makes you a Superprof?

What makes me a Superprof is my commitment to my students' success. I go above and beyond to ensure that each student not only understands the material but also gains confidence in their abilities. I believe in creating a supportive and engaging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and expressing their thoughts. My approach is student-centered, focusing on individual needs and learning styles, which allows me to tailor my lessons to maximize each student's potential. Additionally, my passion for the subject, combined with my dedication to continuous learning and improvement as a tutor, sets me apart.
