About Jane

Jane Smith is a jeweller and fine artist and has lived in Derbyshire for 30 years; she has experience in teaching at various educational institutions and has also completed several artist residencies. She has a HND in Jewellery Design and a Degree and Master’s in Fine Art, and is currently researching for her PhD.
She has a vast amount of knowledge in making and her experience on craft skills is excellent on many levels and using many mediums.

About the lesson

She believes that it is important that traditional craft skills should be kept alive and that we must teach these techniques in order to preserve them for future generations. It is not only important to make in a physical way we must also understand and explore our materials on a wellbeing and physiological level.
