About AvaZoe
Hi! I'm Ava, and I know from experience that academic growth isn’t always a straight line — and that’s part of what makes it so rewarding. During my A-levels, I started with low grades, but through persistence, curiosity, and careful study, I eventually achieved top marks. That journey has shaped how I approach tutoring: with a focus on encouragement, effective strategies, and helping each student find what works best for them. I’m especially passionate about Theology, which I’m now studying in depth at university. This not only broadens my subject knowledge but also helps me to contextualise the A-level Religious Studies curriculum, making the material more engaging, understandable, and relevant for students. I also live with an energy-limiting chronic illness, which has taught me the importance of efficiency, balance, and self-compassion in learning. Because of this, I take a highly flexible and empathetic approach to tutoring. I understand that sometimes motivation dips, circumstances change, or things feel overwhelming — and that’s okay. My role is to support, not stress; to adapt, not demand. I love learning, and I genuinely came to love A-levels by the end. I want to help my students not only achieve their best possible grades, but to feel proud of themselves, develop confidence, and maybe even enjoy the process a little more along the way.

I aim to create a relaxed, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable engaging with ideas, asking questions, and building confidence in their own thinking. My sessions are flexible and student-led — we can focus on reviewing content, improving technique, or preparing for exams, depending on what’s most helpful. I offer online lessons lasting between 1 and 2 hours, depending on your preference and needs. Alongside our sessions, I’m happy to mark essays, support with coursework, and offer practical advice on revision techniques and study methods tailored to different learning styles. I’m currently a Theology undergraduate at Durham University, with an A* in Religious Studies (AQA) and an A in Politics (Edexcel) at A-level. I’ve previously tutored while studying, and I enjoy helping students develop their understanding in ways that best suit them. My lessons are ideal for GCSE and A-Level students looking for thoughtful, personalised support in Religious Studies or Politics.
