I have always been convinced on the benefits of both problem-based learning or any other method which works on the analytical skills of the students rather than the mere passing of information. This is why I prefer to engage with students in a conversation more than proper lecturing.
I have personally run educational programs in of 40+ high schools in the past two years, giving me a wide range of experience in teaching students of a range of backgrounds. I have worked with ESL students, students with learning disabilities and children of all knowledge backgrounds, being able to adapt content to suit their needs easily.
My preferred subject to learn and teach is history. My teaching philosophy is little and often. I have made the mistake of leaving revision/assignments to the last minute but I have always aimed to work ahead of schedule to relieve stress.
Having recently completed year 12, I have an intimate understanding of these subjects and can offer invaluable guidance in concepts and content; essay writing, exam technique and short answer questions; and general management of stress and the year 12 workload.
I approach my topics by first breaking down to its basic components and definitions, delving into the background behind it. This better informs the individual of not just what but why, which will enable a greater understanding of the topic as it is explained in greater detail. Through understanding the basics the more advanced aspects can be more easily comprehended.
My teaching method is to make students feel comfortable with new content and ensure they get the most out of the university experience. Gaining genuine understanding of new theories and course content is the secret to writing great essays and assignments.
My method for teaching is to find out the level of the students and work up form there. That way the students will start at a level they are comfortable and then we together can work on their development.
My tutoring sessions run - roughly - as follows: assistance and discussion of school work that you have any queries about, preparation for upcoming assessments (whether they be SACs or the exam), and the provision of extension material (such as notes, essay practise questions etc.
My teaching method, is very different, as it depends on the student and the subject that I am tutoring in.
I believe that to achieve the optimal outcome out of studying, one cannot rely entirely on the given materials but must exude a curiosity or exercise an effort to find out more details of the problem and apply their critical thinking skills in coming up with their own resolution to the problem.
I don't have a specific teaching method, however I like to talk and explain things or different concepts as well as possible so that it can be understood. I believe that reading, writing and talking about a learning concept are the best way to learn and understand. I also believe that learning should be fun and to make sure that something is achieved every lesson, whether big or small.
My teaching methodology has been developed and refined through teaching placements and tutoring experiences at secondary schools. My primary intention is to develop student knowledge through a range of multi-skilled activities, adapting my teaching processes to best serve the student's learning preferences.
My teaching philosophy is based on Wilhelm von Humboldt's idea that students' educational path should be like a string which provides students with some guidance but also allows them to take their studies in whatever direction they see fit.
My approach to teaching is to both (1) understand the student's educational needs, level of knowledge, ability to work with abstract concepts, and degree of motivation; and (2) to begin to introduce the subject matter in a way that is appealing and stimulating intellectually, and takes the student to a level where he/she begins to formulate his/her own questions and his/her own analyses and...
My teaching method for History and English is to emphasise the stories that are contained within History or English texts. Stories are more engaging and interesting than historical dates and grammar. These things must be learned, of course, but I aim to couch the heavier technical facets of these subjects in the stories and the meanings and lessons we can learn from these stories.
I try to teach my students independent thinking in the subjects I teach, rather than inundating them with loads of information. To achieve this, I encourage them to participate in the classes and be brave and express their views eloquently.
My teaching method is concept based interactive learning. I base my classes according to individual requirement of students or class and alter the course of classes in order to help students best understand the topic and key concepts. I try to include fun and humor in learning to get better attention of students.
My teaching method differs from student to student. Usually, I like to teach the content and then go over practice questions. With subjects like History and Economics I can help you develop your own notes in a method that would help you. But if you have specific areas of concern we can go over that too. I can help you connect your topics via mind maps and some other creative ways.
I approach topics from a theoretical perspective, but apply both current and historical examples to ensure that students understand concepts. I also use books, newspaper articles, news clips, short videos and documentaries to provide an engaging approach to concepts.
I am to teach through making the content enjoyable. History is often taught as a dry list of dates and names, without any focus on the characters or the drama behind the events, I like to focus on what is happening behind the scenes and under the surface of the main story.
My lessons aim to first address any concerns or areas a student feels behind in. In my S&C lessons, I focus on addressing the syllabus dot points that will assist ina ll areas of the course. I am happy to help with achieving a Band 6 PIP, preparing for exams and helping with or proofreading assignments.
My teaching methodology is to help students engage in, and be excited about, the content which they are learning. I do this by ensuring I use appropriate and relevant (to the student) examples to explain theories. This has proven to be highly effective in my past lessons.
My teaching methodology is a student centred approach based on nurturing higher order thinking skills to stimulate debate, discussions and critical questions and answers. I have worked with disengaged students who are working their way back into education and I have also worked with more advanced students.
To me, an ideal tutor is one that creates a supportive, encouraging, and positive environment for the student, and who challenges them to do the best to their ability. Ideally, a student should always feel comfortable asking the tutor as many questions as possible, and to feel as though their struggles/difficulties are valid and normal.
My tutoring philosophy : I think it's so important to first get the person I am tutoring interested and excited about a subject, I despise old school teaching on just rewriting the same thing over and over again (although I do see the benefit of doing exam practise questions.
My teaching method is focusing on an individuals weaknesses and working on them constantly until they are competent in those areas. I aim to make sessions enjoyable as students don't want to work and learn unless they are interested and entertained.
Tutoring is for VCE 20th Century History - I love conversation and discussion, and love to teach engaged and passionate students who strive to learn. My tutoring will suit talkative and extroverted students. I am very in depth with my knowledge of 20th century history and I am sure a student looking to know the century inside out will benefit greatly.
I base my teaching methodology on each students individual needs. No two students are the same and I recognise the fact that each student has different needs and learn at different paces. I can cater a semester or holiday study plan for students based on what they need from me.
I recognise that different students learn in different ways and everyone has their preferred learning style. Therefore I hope to teach according to individual styles and maximise your success. On a general basis, my main methodology for teaching would be to go over the key concepts in each class as well as go over the accepted format for the subject/SACE.
My teaching methods revolve around presenting a topic in the most simple yet informative way possible. This implies giving and pointing out the most important points to be noted in a topic. Figuring out the students learning perspective is also vital so that i know how to approach the topics with each individual.
