About Thomas

Hi, I'm Tom. I'm a PhD researcher at King's College London and an LSE MSc graduate, and I help undergraduate and Master's students get their dissertations done without losing their minds in the process. If your dissertation feels overwhelming, vague, or like everyone else has it figured out, that's completely normal, and it's exactly what I'm here for. I've spent two years teaching undergraduates, marking essays and exams, and mentoring students through their dissertations from the first messy idea all the way to submission. So I've seen the whole journey, and I know the bit nobody tells you: the students who do brilliantly usually aren't the "cleverest," they're the ones who got their question, structure and argument working. That's a skill, and I can teach it to you. I'm patient, I don't judge where you're starting from, and I'll always be honest with you about what's working and what we need to fix.

About the lesson

Come to me for the whole journey or just the part that's stressing you out right now. I can help with:

– Turning a fuzzy topic into a clear, answerable research question – Getting your proposal sorted and structured
– Writing a literature review that actually makes an argument (not just a list)
– Choosing your methodology and, crucially, explaining why you chose it
– Structuring your chapters so everything flows and builds
– Honest, friendly feedback on your drafts: what's great, what isn't, and how to fix it
– Pushing your analysis past "describing" into proper critical thinking
– Calming the pre-viva or presentation nerves and getting you ready

My background is in politics, international relations, political communication and the social sciences, and I'm just as happy helping with the research methods and academic writing side whatever your exact topic. Sessions are usually 60 minutes, and the first chat is free, so we can talk through where you're at with zero pressure before you commit to anything.
