About Adam
I'm a recent graduate from Newcastle University, so I'm not THAT much older than you! (Although my Year 7s like to pretend otherwise). I've always found my passion to be in English and that has led me down an academic path that has enriched my knowledge of the subject to a point where you might say I've exhausted it. The main reason I got into teaching is because I believe in the difference we can make to individuals; not only academically but for their lives going forward. My approach to teaching has always been one of active engagement. I believe students should find some form of joy or satisfaction in what they are learning otherwise they never truly apply themselves. I believe everyone has one thing they love about English, even if they don't know it yet, and I use this as a key to unlock intrinsic motivation in my students. Naturally, I delivered well-sequenced lessons that are informed (content wise) by hands-on experience of what is required for exam success. However, I like to think they are anything but drab; I strive to root my lessons in modern contexts to help students' understandings.
