About Sean

I’ve been teaching for over 12 years and have taught hundreds upon hundreds of students. I have taught students in middle schools, high schools and have also taught at the college level. As a graduate of one of the most famous rigorous music schools in the world, I have been gifted with methods and techniques to help you get to the next level in your playing. I’d love to share them with you.

About the lesson

Hey guys, my name is Sean Lynch. My experience teaching of 12 years offers you individualized lesson plans covering improvisation, a strong rhythmic foundation and an emphasis on learning tunes and repertoire with specific techniques. I’d love to help get you to the next level in your playing, whether you are just a beginner or an advanced student looking to become a professional. Looking forward to working with you!

Perfect! I was recommended Sean from another parent and couldn't be happier. My preteen has had a handful of online lessons with Sean now and we're excited to keep lessons going. Sean has shown to be an attentive and caring music instructor and I can see my son's confidence growing after each lesson - which really warms my heart knowing he not only enjoys practicing now, but also seems to be getting so much from these music lessons. 1) When did you first develop a passion for music and your favorite instrument?
I started piano lessons at 8 and switched to drums at 12 and it’s been a never ending love in my life since.
2) Is there a particular type of music or artist that you listen to on a loop without it driving you crazy?

3) Explain to us the most difficult or riveting course you could personally give to a student of music.
All of my lessons are personalized and tailored to the students interests and current level of ability. We would find the riveting and challenging material together.

I don’t have set courses like an academic tutor would, private lessons are more individualized than taking a college course.
4) What do you think is the most complicated instrument to master and why?
I believe each instrument has a different soul and culture to it. Each one possesses a different history that informs the spirit of the desire behind wanting to play that instrument. That being said, playing drum set and coordinating all 4 limbs at the same time is a lot for most people hahahaha…
5) What are your keys to success?
Listening. Listening. Listening.
I have a weird superpower in which I’ve never been burned out once playing drums…there is always so much inspiration to be drawn from recordings. At the heart of playing any instrument, must be a love affair with listening.
6) Name three musicians you dream of meeting in your favourite bar in the early hours of the morning. Explain why.
I’d love to meet some of my favorite drummers Kenny Washington and Joe Strasser some day.

7) Provide a valuable anecdote related to music or your days at music school.
Hahaha. At the beginning of my 6th grade year when students were being assigned and asked what instrument they wanted to play, I told my band director drums! He asked what would be my second choice, I said there is no second choice it’s going to be drums! He laughed pretty hard and told me to be serious. I replied drums again and his amusement turned into annoyance as he asked again. I replied trumpet in dismay and started on drums the next week.
8) What are the little touches that make you a Superprof in music?
I cater every lesson to the student. The students music tastes, the students availability, the students academic needs as well as any accommodations each student needs to deepen their love for music.
