About Megan
I have a Bachelor of Arts in Social Studies Education with a minor in political science from Northeastern State University. I continued my education by obtaining a Master of Arts in History from Liberty University. I have taught in the classroom for a total of 5 years, 4 of which were in a Special Education setting. I have a certification to teach students with an IEP in the mild/moderate classroom. I deal with students with a variety of disabilities daily.

When I teach, I don't just stand at the front and talk; I use a method called Explicit Instruction to make sure no one gets left behind. I provide guided notes to take the guesswork out of the lecture, which lets my students focus on actually processing the ideas instead of just scrambling to write everything down. This creates a real partnership in the room—I’m acting as a 'warm demander' by keeping expectations high while staying right there with them to provide instant feedback. It’s all about that gradual release of responsibility: I model the concept, we practice it together to build their confidence, and then they take the lead once they’re ready. For me, the relationship is built through that shared work and the fact that they know I’ve set them up to actually succeed.
