About Daniel
Despite being an ordinary youngster from Madrid, I am a graduate in Economics and International Relations with a Masters in Politics, both which I've completed at Lancaster University (Top 10 in the UK). Just before I went abroad to study I got a hold of a Proficiency Oxford certification, essentially these are the basics of my English. During my studies, not only I obtained my degree, which taught me the principles of written English to a whole other level, but I also gained valuable work experience working many jobs, but certainly the one that taught me the most was my time as a barman. This multicultural environment allowed me to develop interpersonal skills by interacting with people from all different corners of the world, from the imposing Scottish Highlands to the more academic Oxford accent. After finishing my studies, I moved to Edinburgh, where I worked as a business development manager in an a licensing firm while also sharing a flat with a Californian lad, who is now a very good friend of mine. This job gave me the opportunity to immerse myself in the fascinating local accents and cultures, from the curious nuances of English in Glasgow and Aberdeen to those in the north of England. These experiences not only enriched my knowledge of the language, but also gave me a unique perspective that I now integrate into my classes. I use a structured method based on the Cambridge Certificate and I adapt it to all different levels. My classes are dynamic, personalized and focused on practical results, whether it is to pass an exam, travel or improve in the professional field. In addition to my passion for languages, I am a musician (guitarist and pianist), which I like to think that brings creativity and empathy to my sessions. My commitment is to ensure the progress of each student, transmitting confidence and a positive environment for learning. What is my way of working as a private tutor? As your private tutor, I use a method based on the Cambridge Certificate standards, combining dynamic and personalised techniques for each student into the activity of learning the right use of the English, which accounts for efficient writing, reading, speaking and proper grammar. My approach focuses on constant practice and developing confidence in speaking English primarily, which I myself consider the mos important first step. Techniques and methodology: I follow a communicative approach that prioritizes oral interaction, applied grammar, and the development of reading and listening skills. I use authentic materials such as texts, podcasts, and videos, along with structured activities to reinforce vocabulary and pronunciation. Sample lesson program: - Introduction (5-10 min): Review of the previous lesson and short conversation to practice small talk. - Grammar and vocabulary (15 min): Explanation and practical exercises. - Comprehension and practice (20 min): Activities such as reading, active listening, and role-playing. - Closing (5-10 min): Correction of common errors and tasks to consolidate. My particularities as a teacher: I am 23 years old, which allows me to easily connect with students of a very diverse age range. My international experience and passion for music brings creativity and empathy, making my classes motivating and tailored to each of my student's interests.
