About Cherise

I specialize in teaching English and Chinese for both Primary and Secondary students, with a focus on building strong language foundations and exam skills in a supportive and engaging environment. As a bilingual tutor, I tailor my lessons to each student’s needs. Whether your child struggles with composition, oral, comprehension, or Chinese sentence structure, I break down complex topics into easy-to-understand steps, provide useful tips for tackling exam questions, and most importantly, help students regain confidence in subjects they may find difficult. My students appreciate my patient approach and clear explanations, and parents often tell me that their child becomes more motivated and independent after just a few lessons. I also offer targeted exam preparation for PSLE and O-Level students, focusing on common question types, time management, and answering techniques that meet MOE marking requirements. For younger students, I help build strong language habits early, making sure they are well-prepared for upper primary or secondary school. Beyond academics, I believe in nurturing a positive learning attitude. I do not just teach from a textbook. I help students understand why language matters and how they can use it confidently in real life.

About the lesson

I’ve worked with students of varying abilities, tailoring my teaching style to suit their needs. For those needing more support, I slow down but ensure lessons stay comprehensive. I actively engage students by asking questions, adapting my explanations based on their understanding. My students appreciate my patience and clear teaching. To maintain focus, I include short breaks during longer sessions. While I can be firm, I create a friendly, comfortable learning environment that makes lessons enjoyable. Currently, I tutor over 25 students from K2 to Secondary 4 across private, tuition centers, and online lessons, mainly in Languages and Humanities. I also create my own notes to enhance learning. All my students have improved from failing to at least B3, with one notable case going from F9 to B3 for O-Level English in under 5 months.
