About Ian

Ian has achieved his diploma in creative writing (2017) and another in NZ Drama (1997). He has written seven books, more than 200 ghostwritten articles and stories and his creative mind often thinks outside the box. For me, creative writing is one of the best outlets to unleash my inner expression and it can often bring resolve, self-satisfaction, healing and would you believe... finance! Everyone has a story to tell, but so many don't know where to begin or how to express themselves clearly, yet, without the clutter.

About the lesson

Teaching begins with an idea, or foundation which needs to be expanded upon. It requires the student to commit to their idea and construct it, piece by piece. Once a foundation has been laid, that is: a beginning, a middle and an end, then that can be modified, worked over several times and the gaps filled in. It is the teacher's responsibility to help guide you through this process and to make suggestions of where the honing needs to take place, along the way. As the teacher, I will commit to leading you in a way that will best benefit you, the student, and your individual style of work. We are all different and that is why we are, the creative.

We had a lovely meet and greet, and I feel that there are different learning styles and ways of expression that can be better understood, when we realise our unique differences. We talked about planners and pansters, and I think the two friendly ladies I spoke with, are one of each, we have a planner and a panster and we can celebrate these differences! Thank you :)

He is always friendly, yet professional in his approach, and the result is always what I had hoped for. On the few occasions, that I have had concerns, usually regarding foreign place names, he is always prepared to discuss them, and if necessary redo the word or phrase.
