About Harriet

I am a passionate and enthusiastic tutor offering History tuition up to A-level. I have experience teaching and tutoring across a range of exam boards, including AQA, Edexcel, Cambridge, and Eduqas. Currently, I am History Lead at a SEND school, where I teach both subjects. I have taught and tutored learners from KS3 through to A-level. Prior to this, I taught in mainstream secondary schools, where my students consistently achieved ambitious outcomes and exceeded target grades. I also led an ESOL department within the prison estate. My experience spans the delivery and coordination of English, History, ESOL, and phonics, and I have taught both young people and adults. Working with such a diverse range of learners has enabled me to develop a wide variety of strategies to help students find learning and revision methods that suit them. In my current role, this includes supporting students with complex learning needs and managing anxieties related to mental health. I also regularly support students with their UCAS applications, helping them to craft strong personal statements and make informed choices about higher education.

About the lesson

I pride myself on helping learners from all backgrounds gain confidence in themselves and their work, regardless of starting point, while fostering a love of learning. I tailor my support and create resources to help learners of all ages and abilities reach their learning goals and achieve their target grades. I encourage students to set their own goals and, as exams approach, I offer targeted exam technique sessions and revision strategy discussions. This also includes marking completed essays and practice questions to support progress. Both online and in-person tutoring are available—usually on weekday evenings or Saturdays.
