About Thea
Despite achieving straight A*s and academic awards, I have struggled with eye conditions that have made my reading twice as slow as most students, and made it really challenging to learn. I have had to develop strategies and techniques to maximise my chances of achieving the same as other students who have found things much easier. I believe that the work I have put in to my subjects can help a lot of other students, whether they struggle with learning difficulties or not. Understanding that it takes more than just memorising content is the first step, and from here, I have been able to help students of many levels to really boost their confidence and their grades.

In my experience tutoring, different approaches work for different students. I find that this is particularly true for essay based subjects, in which many students initially struggle without a specific ‘right’ method to follow. I therefore like to look at some pieces of work completed by students and what their current techniques before I make specific material for them. I then look at adjusting these techniques to suit what their exam board is really looking for. All exam boards are different and it is my goal to help students understand and apply exactly what is expected of them to reach the top marks, alongside just learning the content. It is these extra strategies that allowed me reach A*s in my GCSES and A Levels, and now those that I am tutoring. I put a lot of energy into online notes and flashcards to help students, which my former teachers now teach with.
