Find your French tutor in Mentone

Self-studying French works well when you build strong habits from the very beginning.

• Core grammar: focus on verb conjugation, masculine and feminine nouns, and simple sentence patterns.
• Vocabulary building: learn the 500 most common French words first — they cover the majority of everyday conversations.
• Immersive listening: watch French content with subtitles and listen to native speakers as often as possible.
• Oral practice: speaking every day, even alone, is essential for developing genuine fluency and confidence.

A personal French tutor gives you structured feedback and conversation practice that no app can replace.

A private French lesson in Mentone costs approximately $40/h.

The cost depends on:

• Your current level (beginner, intermediate, advanced)
• The teacher's expertise and background
• The number of hours booked
• The teaching mode (in-person or video call)

Online lessons are often more affordable while remaining effective.

In language learning, the Pareto principle tells you to prioritise the 20% of French that covers 80% of everyday communication.

• Core vocabulary: the top 500–1,000 words used most often in conversation should come before rare or specialised terms.
• Key tenses: present, passé composé and simple future cover the vast majority of French conversations — master those before anything else.
• Fixed expressions: learning language chunks — like "qu'est-ce que," "il faut" and "c'est" — builds fluency far faster than isolated words.
• Active recall: drilling your weak spots rather than reviewing easy material is the most efficient use of your study time.

A private French teacher tailors every lesson to the words, tenses and structures most relevant to you.
