Book guitar lessons with expert teachers

The first lessons for a new guitarist cover the physical setup and basic playing techniques.

• Guitar components: Know the saddle and other key components to describe problems.
• Note names: The six strings are tuned to E-A-D-G-B-E from thickest to thinnest.
• Fretting technique: Press strings firmly behind the fret using the tips of your fingers.
• Right-hand rhythm: Hold a plectrum between your index finger and strum from top to bottom with fluid arm movement.

Master these fundamentals first to avoid poor technique that limit your playing.

Guitar lessons in Ardross typically cost around $50/h per hour.

Pricing varies based on various considerations:

• The learner's experience (advanced, or high school level)
• The tutor's credentials (formal qualifications)
• Lesson duration and frequency (30-minute sessions, weekly)
• The teaching format (in-person or remote)

Choosing video call instruction can reduce costs while maintaining excellent teaching.

Also called the Pareto Principle, this concept shows that specific exercises yields disproportionate results.

Instead of working on everything, commit effort to the skills that build foundations.

Essential focus areas:

• Smooth chord transitions between common chords like G-C-D or E-A-B
• Strumming with consistent timing using a metronome
• Learning the pentatonic scale in a single shape
• Listening skills to play by ear

This approach reduces frustration by prioritising techniques that build transferable ability.
