Book guitar lessons with expert teachers

The first lessons for a beginner cover parts of the instrument and core mechanics.

• Parts of the instrument: Learn the names of key sections like the neck and fretboard.
• Open string names: Standard tuning assigns specific notes to the strings when unfretted: E-A-D-G-B-E.
• Finger placement: Use your fingertips to press strings firmly near the fret wire.
• Right-hand rhythm: Hold a plectrum between your index finger and strum through all strings with fluid arm movement.

Master these essentials first to avoid frustrating mistakes that become hard to fix.

Guitar lessons in Fairfield Heights typically cost around $75/h for a one-hour session.

This rate fluctuates based on multiple criteria:

• The student's level (advanced, or high school level)
• The teacher's qualifications (formal qualifications)
• Lesson duration and frequency (60-minute sessions, fortnightly)
• The lesson mode (online via video call)

Choosing video call instruction can reduce costs while maintaining excellent teaching.

Also called Pareto's Law, this concept shows that focused practice yields major improvements.

Apply this by concentrating on weaknesses that transfer to many contexts.

Core 20% activities:

• Smooth chord transitions between basic shapes like G-C-D or E-A-B
• Strumming with consistent timing using rhythmic exercises
• Mastering basic scales in a single shape
• Listening skills to understand melodies
