About Leonor
Hello! I'm a licensed ELA middle school teacher, and mother of three boys (16, 13, 8). I have over 20 years of experience working with children from infants to young adults. I love helping young people become life-long learners by celebrating curiosity and adventure. I have extensive experience creating and implementing writing and reading lessons for students in grades 6-8.
Additionally, I recently completed a mindfulness meditation teacher training and coursework through Mindful Schools, and I'm currently taking a 200-hour yoga and SEL (social emotional learning) certification course through Breathe for Change, an organization for educators. I'm excited to bring tools of mindfulness and yoga to children and teens.

My lessons provide an engaging and authentic learning experience that nurtures a life-long love of learning. In my classroom, I regularly hosted Socratic Seminars to connect students to the background knowledge needed for the lesson while also providing them with parameters for the sustained and respectful communication skills they would continue to use throughout the lesson. Fostering this kind of community reflects my core values.
