About Kevin
I started teaching as a second career 7 years ago. In that time, I have taught classes from 5th grade to Algebra 1 and tutored students from 4th grade to Calculus.
I have had multiple students achieve perfect scores on standardized end-of-course tests and a majority of my students have shown improvement in grades and test scores. I have helped several students successfully move into accelerated math programs.

I focus on building conceptual understanding as the basis for success in mathematics. Far too often, math students find themselves memorizing procedures that they do not understand, which makes it difficult to apply them to novel problems.
I also value creativity and efficiency in problem solving. There is always more than one way to solve a problem. I focus on helping students to make decisions about what the best tools may be for the problem, understanding that different students may do best with different tools.
