About Sonny

Hi, I'm Sonny and I've lived with Bipolar type 2 for 19 years 2 months & 5 days!

Like many of you, I've spent years navigating doctor's appointments, adapting daily routines, fighting for accommodations, managing energy limitations, and sometimes feeling isolated or misunderstood in a world not built for us.

My journey hasn't been easy—there have been setbacks, frustration, and moments where I questioned if things could get better.

But through trial and error, self-advocacy, building routines that actually work on bad days, connecting with resources, and learning to reframe my limitations as part of my unique perspective, I've found real ways to thrive, not just survive.

I'm not a doctor or traditional therapist. I'm someone who's been in the trenches with you.

I've figured out hacks for Meditation + Meds to CONTROL my MOODS e.g., 'low-energy productivity' or Hypo-Mania

I want to share those hard-won lessons one-on-one as a tutor and peer mentor.
If you're struggling with similar challenges—whether it's feeling overwhelmed by daily management, building confidence in self-advocacy, creating sustainable routines, or simply finding hope and community—I'm here to walk alongside you. No judgment, no 'just push through' advice. Just real talk from someone who gets it because I've lived it."

Why Take Advice from Another Disabled Person (Peer Support Section)

"Why choose a tutor who shares your disabilities instead of a 'professional' without them?

Because lived experience matters. I've walked the same path—the invisible struggles, the systemic barriers, the days when nothing seems to work, and the quiet victories that outsiders might overlook.

Professionals can offer general strategies from textbooks, but only someone who's been there can truly understand the nuances: what actually helps when spoons are low, how to advocate without burning out, or how to adapt tools and mindsets to your reality, not an idealized one.

Peer support like this reduces isolation, builds genuine trust faster, and provides practical, tested advice that feels doable—not overwhelming. Research and countless stories show that connecting with peers who 'get it' fosters hope, improves self-advocacy, shares real-world coping strategies, and creates a sense of community and belonging.

You're not getting generic tips; you're getting insights refined through real life, from someone rooting for your success because I've fought for mine.

I'm proof that progress is possible—even if it's slower or looks different than expected. Let's turn shared challenges into shared strengths."
(This draws on the proven benefits of peer support: empathy, practical strategies, reduced isolation, empowerment, and credibility.)

Overall Goals:

-Build personalized tools for daily management and self-advocacy.

-Reduce feelings of isolation and overwhelm.

-Develop sustainable routines, mindset shifts, and resources that fit your life.

-Foster confidence and community through shared understanding.
