About Lori
I had been a teacher for 15 years. During my teaching career I have had the pleasure to teach Early Childhood classes, both Preschool and Head Start. I have also taught Kindergarten, First Grade, and Second Grade. I have taught both gifted students as well as Special needs students. I have also taught ESL/ELL classes for adults at the local community college. I have tutored students from Preschool through adult learners.

I use the teaching strategy: I do (teacher models), we do (teacher and student practice the skill together, you do (students are practicing the skill independently with support if needed.
I usuallystart with reviewing the previous lesson or skill. This is usually in the form of a game.
Then I will introduce the new skill. I demonstrate the skill, usually with a book, video, or silly activity.
Next, the student and I practice the skill together until the student seems very confident with the skill. Then I use games, puzzles, or online practice activities to let the student show mastery.
I always end a lesson with a very simple " homework" assignment, and by either reading to the student, listening to a book be read aloud by different people, or with the student reading a short section.
