About Sophie

I am looking to make use of the skills I learned in university while searching for a job that will match my skills and my passions.

Born in New Zealand and raised in Adelaide, I had frequent trips to traditional lands in my youth, which left me with a lasting need to see humble, respectful, inclusive education. This passion for inclusive education encompasses disability, which burgeoned in me as I taught a disabled child to read.

I greatly respect the privacy of others and will do my best to respectfully adapt to the needs of clients without expecting them to disclose any vulnerabilities.

About the lesson

My attitude to teaching is to reach for a full understand the mindset of the student and the course coordinator, and discover how the student can best grasp their learning objectives and prove their learning through assignments and tests. This starts with getting to know the student's awareness of the topic, and linking this to academic achievement through students' own interests and passions.

My background in tutoring is informal and comes in assisting university classmates and teaching a young child to read. However, I am considering an SSO position in the future. I find that frequent, short-duration lessons are best for myself and for students -- perhaps 30-40 minutes once or twice a week.

I am adaptable -- please get in contact about your particular situation and needs.
