About Samantha
I am a recent graduate of the University of Virginia, having received my Master’s degree in Media, Culture & Technology in May of 2024. What this means is that I have spent the past five years dedicated to the study of the modern media environment: analyzing literary texts in all forms and learning to confidently communicate ideas.
I have workshopped both academic and creative works extensively. On the creative side, I’ve critiqued and provided feedback for over 50 short stories from my peers, and I am well-versed in the literary canon. I am an avid fan of short stories and have had stories and oratorical speeches of my own published in literary journals. I am also proficient in academic writing, having tutored multiple students in the past at the high school and undergraduate level in essay writing. In high school, I received a 1540 on the SAT, and finished my undergraduate education at the University of Virginia with two 4.0s in both Government and Media Studies. I published a 120-page thesis in May as a part of my graduate program that underwent multiple revision processes with my academic advisors, thus familiarizing myself with the process, and received a 3.94 GPA in a very demanding course of study.
And above all else, I am passionate about good writing! I want others to succeed and feel good about the work they have submitted. I get that working with a tutor one-on-one can be intimidating, and I want to make that process as smooth as possible for everyone involved.
