About Matt
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have been teaching privately for several years and have been involved in several education and outreach projects during the last few years. These include In Harmony Lambeth and the ARCO project at Birmingham Conservatoire. I also regularly take sections for Coventry Youth Orchestra.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
Yes I have an enhanced DBS check.
- Where and with whom did you train?
I began learning violin and piano aged 6 through my local music service. In 2012, I attended Junior Conservatoire at RBC where I began studying viola with Dr Louise Lansdown. From 2013 I continued my studies at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire as an undergraduate with Louise who is the Head of Strings there. I currently have a place with Southbank Sinfonia which helps prepare graduates for work in professional orchestras.
- Do you belong to any professional organisations?
I am a member of the Musicians' Union and Southbank Sinfonia.

Hi! I am a experienced violin, viola and piano teacher, and am available to teach all ages and abilities. I am currently a violist in the Southbank Sinfonia.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach violin, viola, piano and music theory.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I have been studying Music for over 15 years and have just graduated from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire (Bmus Hons) studying Viola.
I also have attained ABRSM Grade 8 in Violin, Piano and Viola.
- How much do you charge?
I offer each student a free consultation lesson to get to know me. I charge £35 and hour for violin, viola and piano lessons, and £25 for half and hour.
- Where do you teach?
I can travel to your home - I am based in Vauxhall and am willing to travel to most areas of central London.
- When are you available?
My availability is flexible. I am free most evenings in the week and can also teach on weekends.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach any age.
Violin and Viola - Beginner to Grade 8+
Piano - Beginner to Grade 6
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I follow the ABRSM syllabus for music exams and also have experience in teaching the Suzuki Method.
