About Serena
Inclusion, respect, and mindfulness are three important pillars of learning. Being open to different literary mediums created by different people can expose us to a great variety of works. Respect for the student, for the teacher, and for the material being learned create a healthy and fruitful work environment. Lastly, I use mindfulness in my teaching; I don't simply 'allow' mistakes, but I accept them as evidence of effort to understand the material.

Our lessons can begin with a few minutes of free-flow writing to prepare for the learning ahead of us. Then, we'll look the topic at hand (paragraph structure, vocabulary, reading comprehension) and approach it from a variety of engaging ways. Lessons may begin with generous support and gradually pass on independence to the learner.
